A Dream Comes True
Over thirty years ago, a young man left his home in the Abruzzi Region of central Italy and got on a plane to join his father and eldest brother in the United States. Tony Prospero arrived in New York with a dream: starting a successful family business with his father, Guido, and brother, Pasquale. Within a few years, they managed to set up a fruit and vegetable market in Pleasantville, New York, situated in the heart of Westchester County.
The market quickly became a profitable business, and Tony immediately envisioned expanding in order to include new lines of products to meet the needs of Westchester County's growing population. Prospero's began selling the finest California grapes, together with superb Italian winemaking equipment. Success among the large community of home winemakers was guaranteed.
Today, Prospero Equipment Corp. is one of the leading suppliers of commercial and home winemaking equipment in the United States, Canada, parts of South America and Mexico. Prospero has established an international reputation for quality and know-how in the winemaking industry.
Prospero Winery is Founded
While their family-run business was expanding steadily, the Prospero's were producing excellent homemade wine. They then decided it was time that they shared their fine wine with the rest of the world. In 1997, Prospero Winery was founded in Paso Robles, on California's central coast, producing three wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel.
In 1998, Chardonnay, Muscat Canelli, Grenache Rose and a house blend were added. In 1999, a winery and tasting room were opened on the original site of the Prospero's fruit and vegetable market in Pleasantville.
The Prospero family produces exceptional wines made from the finest California grapes, and is dedicated to offering its customers high-quality products at exceptional prices. Tony Prospero's dream remains that of maintaining the principles of the finest Italian traditions in winemaking while keeping prices low because "everybody should be able to buy a good bottle of wine without spending a fortune!"

La Fontana Luminosa
La Fontana Luminosa, "The Luminous Fountain", is loacted in Piazza Battaglione degli Alpini, in the center of the capital city, L'Aquila. L'Aquila, one of Italy's oldest cities, is located in the center of the Abruzzi region and is also the birthplace of the Prospero family.
Created in 1934 by the famous sculptor Nicola D'Antino, it is made of marble, depicting two beautiful women holding the "bronze basin" which is a typical Abruzzi watering can. In dedication to their family home, the Prospero family has placed La Fontana Luminosa on their wine labels.
